Bulshit Font: A Sweet Handwritten Touch

It was a Tuesday morning, and I was finalizing the visuals for a seasonal sale campaign. The client wanted something fresh, something that felt personal and inviting. I opened my design tool, scrolled through my font library, and landed on Bulshit. It wasn’t the first choice, but it had a charm that made me pause.

What Is Bulshit?

Bulshit is a sweet and cursive handwritten font that carries a gentle, romantic vibe. Its flowing strokes and soft curves make it feel like a handwritten note from a friend. The font’s personality is warm and approachable, perfect for campaigns aiming to connect with an audience on an emotional level. It’s not just a typeface—it’s a mood.

Real Campaign Use: Social Media Graphics

For the social media assets, I used Bulshit as the headline for a series of Instagram posts promoting the sale. The font added a playful yet elegant touch that stood out against bold backgrounds. On mobile screens, it held up well, especially when paired with a clean sans serif for body text. The contrast made the message clear without feeling overwhelming.

When designing YouTube thumbnails, I experimented with Bulshit as the main title. It worked surprisingly well, especially when paired with a solid color or subtle gradient. The font’s fluidity gave the thumbnails a sense of movement, which is essential for catching attention in a fast-scrolling feed.

Readability and Visual Hierarchy

Bulshit is best suited for short headlines, callouts, and decorative titles. It doesn’t work as well for long blocks of text or dense information. That said, when used intentionally, it can elevate the visual hierarchy of a design. For example, using it for a webinar banner or course launch header makes the message more memorable.

On dark backgrounds, Bulshit maintains good contrast, but I found that lighter shades of the font performed better on light backgrounds. For small previews or thumbnails, keeping the font size above 24px ensured legibility without sacrificing style.

Campaign Situations Where Bulshit Shines

Bulshit excels in campaigns that rely on emotion and storytelling. It’s ideal for seasonal sales, product teasers, and quote graphics. When I designed a promotional email for an online shop, I used Bulshit for the subject line and a key headline. The font created a sense of urgency and warmth that resonated with the audience.

For a content series on Pinterest, I used Bulshit in the title of each pin. The font’s handcrafted look aligned perfectly with the platform’s aesthetic, making the pins more engaging and shareable. It also helped reinforce brand consistency across different platforms.

Font Pairing and Design Compatibility

Pairing Bulshit with a modern sans serif or a classic serif font creates a balanced and professional look. For instance, using it alongside a clean, geometric sans serif for body text adds contrast without clashing. This combination works well for landing pages, email banners, and website headers.

When working with other script fonts, I found that Bulshit’s unique character set and ligatures made it stand out. It’s a great addition to a font collection for logo design, editorial design, and packaging design. Just be sure to check the included styles, alternates, and multilingual support before using it in a campaign.

Practical Tips for Using Bulshit

Before incorporating Bulshit into any project, I always check the commercial licensing terms. It’s important to ensure that the font can be used in ads, templates, merchandise, and client campaigns without legal issues. Also, testing the font across different file formats and platforms helps avoid unexpected results.

For digital ad layouts, I recommend using Bulshit sparingly. Too much of it can overwhelm the viewer, especially on smaller screens. Instead, use it as a highlight rather than the main message. It’s also worth experimenting with different weights and styles to see what works best for your specific campaign.
